Rodent Control

mouse and rat poop_edited.jpg

Mice and rats are not just a nuisance; they can significantly impact your health, as well as the health of your family and pets. If you see any droppings or spot a rodent, it indicates an active infestation. Contact us for a treatment plan.

  •  Spread Serious diseases, including salmonellosis (food poisoning), leptospirosis, rickettsialpox, and lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM)

  • Carry fleas and ticks and other parasites such as Lyme disease and bubonic plague.

  • Gnaw, causing expensive structural damage as well as start fires if they gnaw on electrical wires

  • After giving birth, female rats and mice can go into heat and become pregnant in as little as 24-48 hours

Mice

Mice are one of the most common pests in Ontario, especially in the fall when they sneak inside looking for warmth, food, and shelter.

The two most common types we find in homes are:

  • House Mouse – Small, grey-brown, and the most common indoor pest in cities

  • Deer Mouse – Slightly larger with a white belly and white feet

Even though they’re small (about 10 cm long), mice have large ears, long tails, and can squeeze through holes as tiny as a dime. They also carry diseases and multiply quickly — turning a small issue into a big problem fast.

Signs You May Have Mice:

  • Black, rice-sized droppings in cupboards, drawers, or along walls

  • Scratching or scurrying noises in walls or ceilings (usually at night)

  • Chewed food packages, furniture, or electrical wires

  • Dark greasy marks along baseboards where mice travel

  •

Why You Should Act Fast:

  • Mice spread bacteria and disease

  • They damage food, wiring, and property

  • One mouse usually means more are hiding

Rats

Rat populations are rising across Ontario due to milder winters and increased construction waste. These pests are active mostly at night, breed quickly, and can spread harmful diseases.

The two main types we see are:

  • Norway Rat (most common)

    • Brown or grey in colour

    • 12–18 inches long

    • Lives near ground level

    • Often burrows around foundations

  • Roof Rat (less common, but present)

    • Smaller than Norway rats

    • Excellent climbers and strong swimmers

    • Usually found higher up in buildings

Both species reproduce fast, with litters of 6–12 babies at a time, turning small problems into big infestations quickly.

Signs You May Have Rats:

  • Droppings around your home or property

  • Chew marks on wood, walls, or electrical wiring

  • Tracks or smudge marks in dusty areas

  • Burrows in gardens, lawns, or under concrete

Prevention & Control Tips:

  • Secure food and water sources

  • Use metal or thick plastic garbage bins

  • Remove pet food and avoid bird feeders

  • Clean up fallen fruit, garden waste, and vegetables

  • Seal entry points around your home

If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait. The sooner you act, the easier it is to control.

"Cliff did a great job of getting rid of rodents in our house. What sets him apart from the rest is the fact that he focusing on points of entry. All other companies I called basically told me that they dont guarantee their work and will only come in to put poison in, but that was it (they didn't have any faith in their own services.). Cliff spent the better part of an hour outside the house figuring out the points of entry and developing a plan to close these gaps before he even came in the house. Since he sealed up our house, we have seen no further sign of mice. I also suspect that his efforts will decrease our hest loss. Thanks Cliff."

"Cliff came to our house in buckhorn and was absolutely fantastic. A custom built estate home had some unwanted visitors inside that an other pest control company failed to solve. Cliffs knowledge and the time he took to educate us and walk us through the steps to solve the issue are second to none. The problem was identified and solved. I cannot speak highly enough of Cliff and the comfort both my wife and I feel having him look after our house. Cliff your the best, Customers for life"

"Had an issue with mice in my detached garage. After trying to handle the issue myself over several weeks, I gave in and decided to get professional help. Cliff was referred to me by my neighbour and was very responsive and easy to work with. Cliff followed up often to ensure there were no other issues. I'm glad I was able to get my problem resolved and will no longer have issues in my garage."
